Cowboys Nation: Live!

We all know (but may not accept), that the Cowboys are the football team of America. As a Texan, I’m one of their biggest fans! On Saturday, my cousin and her husband, along with my boyfriend and I, traveled to Dallas to attend the Colts vs. Cowboys game. Since that weekend was all about football, we went to Idle Rich Pub, located on McKinney Street for dinner. They offer tasty burgers and great drinks, with the opportunity to watch sports on their big screen TVs.

We started off game day by having brunch at Odd Fellows, located in The Bishop Arts District. Although small, the restaurant has outstanding food and a grand atmosphere! Ordering the Eggs Benedict with ham and a mimosa, will not leave you disappointed.

Due to the popularity of the restaurant, we were on the waiting list for about 20 minutes, prompting us to take a stroll through the neighborhood.  We saw that the Bishop Arts District is a historical, yet very hip and unique neighborhood. It has been featured in the New York Times and USA Today, among others, for its small town feel, hidden gem appeal and close knit community.

After our fill of excellent food, we headed to the AT&T Stadium, home of the Cowboys. We parked about 2 block away, in a lot that charged $40 per car. Tailgating is a one of a kind experience. It was very exciting to see all the fans, a few of which we chatted with, before entering the stadium. It was an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G game! The Cowboys slaughtered the Colts, 42-7, making them the 2014 NFC East champs.  Fan or not, experiencing at least one NFL game live, is something you do not want to miss!

Christmas Dinner at the Riverwalk

San Antonio-Riverwalk-Lights

San Antonio is well known for it's unique Riverwalk. As a local resident I don't visit it as often as I wish I could, but this year our Agency's Christmas Party took place in a River Boat. Dinner was catered by Cafe Ole, which is a Mexican Restaurant, the service was excellent and the food was good! We had dinner and drinks while enjoying the beautiful festive lights that decorate the Riverwalk during the holidays.

If you are planning to visit San Antonio and looking for a great experience, make sure to take a river boat cruise and enjoy the Holiday spirit that brightens the Riverwalk.

If you have a big party you can rent a barge and have dinner. This is great for any occasion! Here are all the restaurants that cater, www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com

Road-trip to Key Allegro-Rockport

During Thanksgiving break I was invited to spend a few days in the Key Allegro Rockport region of Texas.  Since it's only 3 hours away from San Antonio we drove there.
Key Allegro is a small island located on the South Texas Gulf Coast. If you are planning to have a relaxed weekend away from traffic and noise, this small town is the perfect getaway. There are very nice vacation rental homes that include awesome amenities like a fishing pier, swimming pool and hot tub among others (link to vacation rental homes) .

During  our stay there we went fishing, visited the aquarium, grilled delicious shrimp, played board games, watched beautiful sunsets and just strolled through this small town. It was a great family weekend!

If you decide to visit this place for a weekend, you should definitely check out the Boiling Pot Restaurant. This unique restaurant is located at 201 South Fulton Beach Road in Rockport. They are famous for their fresh Cajun-spiced boiled seafood. You definitely need to try the seafood boil, I promise you won’t regret it!  It includes sausage, corn in the cob, potatoes, crab and shrimp. Don't forget to use a bib.

Whiskey Cake

Last month Whiskey Cake opened its third restaurant in San Antonio. This restaurant serves tasty farm-to-kitchen food and drinks. The nice thing about their kitchen is that food is made from scratch with ingredients from local and regional farms and markets.  They even have their own spice garden!

If you are looking to have a great meal, good drinks, excellent atmosphere and of course delicious dessert, you should definitely visit Whiskey Cake.  They offer brunch, lunch and dinner. On Wednesdays from 4:00 pm to close they have Girls Wine Wednesday! Ladies get 1/2 price on selected wines. This sounds like a great idea after a stressful day at work! To see more specials go to whiskeycakesa.com/whats-going-on

I ordered the Salmon, since it is one of their specialties. It comes with roasted local fall vegetables, green lentils and mustard vinaigrette.  It was delicious!

My friend ordered the Rotisserie "Farm Bird" since it is also one of the specialties. They marinate the chicken for a whole day, so the results are pretty amazing!

We also ordered the Turkey Burger and Fries, which were also delicious!

Don't forget to order Tap Wine!

And of course you can not leave this place with out ordering the iconic Whiskey Cake! This was my favorite part!
