Enchanted
Rock is located approximately 1.5 hours north of San Antonio and 17
miles away from Fredericksburg Texas.
Enchanted Rock is a huge granite pink rock that rises
approximately 425 feet above the surrounding terrain to elevation of 1,825 feet
above sea level. It is the largest pink granite monadnock in the
United States.
We have been trying to visit Enchanted Rock for a while, but
it was always packed. To avoid the crowds, we decided to go late and catch the
sunset. We got there around 4 pm without a problem and sure enough a lot
of families, boys scouts, hiking groups and college kids, but it was not
as packed as in the mornings.
It was an overcast day, but no chance of rain, so it was
perfect. Going up the rock you can see beautiful flowers, lots of birds and big
piles of different shapes of rocks. I took lots of pictures. When we got to the summit my
boyfriend and I sat down for a few minutes to admire the scenery. I
thought it was going to be a long and steep hike, but it was just perfect. It
was a lot of fun and a great experience.
If you have the chance of visiting this park, you will not
regret it.
