Cheers From Shiner!

If you are planning to make a day trip from Austin, San Antonio or surrounding areas, Shiner, Texas is a great option. The city of Shiner is known to be the "Cleanest Little City in Texas” and home of the Spoetzl Brewery which crafts the famous line of Shiner Beer. This beer is distributed in 49 states in the USA (except for Hawaii). The city's population is of 2,069 people, it only has 5 restaurants and 3 bars. It is a really small city and the main attraction is the brewery.

Spoetzl Brewery offers free tours and free beer samples from Monday to Friday. We took the tour and it was amazing to see a 106 year old brewery still working and expanding. The tour was very informative and the beer tasted awesome!
I tried Shiner's anniversary beer, called Birthday Beer for the first time. It is a chocolate stout that tastes like red velvet cake with vanilla frosting. If you like sweets you should definitely try it soon because it's only available for limited time.

I really enjoyed this small trip, it was a great day. AND don’t forget, always have a designated driver. For more information visit www.shiner.com.

Big Lou's Pizza

Last week I hit a BIG milestone…I turned 3-0!!! We only turn 30 once, right, so why not celebrate just as COLOSSAL?! I wanted to go somewhere I’d never been that was extremely unique and different. The first place that came to mind was a restaurant I saw on the Travel Channel, while watching Man vs. Food, called Big Lou’s Pizza. This pizza shop is famous for their deliciously ENORMOUS pizzas, the most popular being a whopping 42 inches!!! This pizza feeds 18, which was perfect because 17 of my closest friends came to celebrate BIG with me!

When the pizza arrived, I was shocked by its size, GIGANTIC!! We ordered 3/4 of the pizza with pepperoni and jalapeño and the remaining quarter mushroom and jalapeño, to accommodate my vegetarian friends. We had a blast! To wrap up the night, in a MASSIVE way, I was made to stand on a chair, while all of my friends sang Happy Birthday to me. What a GREAT birthday!!!

Big Lou’s is located in 2048 S WW White Rd San Antonio, TX 78222. For more information visit; biglouspizza-satx.com

Faux Fur Collar Cardigan

Here, in South Texas, winter has just arrived and is not leaving anytime soon. I LOVE hot weather, but will never deny my adoration for the ever comfortable leggings and boots. They can easily be dressed up by adding a fancy top, like this faux fur collar cardigan I found at forever21.com. It’s a perfect toss on and go, that can upgrade any outfit, by adding a touch of glamour which can be removed at anytime. Oh, did I forget to mention the collar is removable? This is a steal, two looks for the price of one at only $32.80!

Apple-Cinnamon Chia Breakfast Pudding

I know it may sound kind of cliché wanting to start a diet or eating better on the first week of the year, but after eating delicious food packed with empty calories during the Holidays, who doesn't?

On today’s blog I will be sharing an easy yet healthy breakfast recipe; apple-cinnamon chia breakfast pudding.  Chia seeds are a great source of antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acid, calcium, fiber and proteins. Plus, it keeps you full for hours

Since I couldn't find chia seeds alone, I bought Qi’a by Nature’s Path which is super food breakfast cereal. This product contains chia seeds, buckwheat, hemp cereal, dried apples and cinnamon. It has a great taste plus many healthy properties. You can also use it on smoothies, fruits, yogurt or even for baking.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup of chia seeds or Qi’a cereal
  • 2 cups of almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoons raw honey
  • Seasonal fruit for topping (Strawberries, blackberries, banana)
  • Cinnamon on the top
* You can add almonds or other nuts for topping.
* This recipe is for 2 servings.

DIRECTIONS
  • Mix almond milk, chia seeds/Qi’a cereal, vanilla and honey in a bowl.
  • Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  • Store covered in fridge overnight.
  • Blend well before serving. If the pudding gets too thick add some water.
  • Add fruits and nuts.

     Enjoy!
