Pop of Neon [Steal]

pop of neon espadrilles

Not too long ago, I bought a pair of Rebecca Minkoff espadrilles on Sale! I love the color neon-yellow, plus they are super comfortable. The best part is that they were a steal!

A pop of neon combined with neutral colors always gives a fun look to your outfit.

This practical and casual outfit is perfect for summer, especially if you are traveling and planning to walk a lot. The Gap Denim Jacket is a great accessory. If it gets to hot you can wrapped it around your waist and get that awesome 90’s look.

Vietnamese meets French [Eat]

This weekend we headed to Austin for a wedding. We arrived early so we decided to grab a bite to eat at Elizabeth Street Café. This restaurant is a neighborhood Vietnamese café and French bakery, and it is well known for their bánh mì served on house baked baguettes, fresh spring rolls, steaming bowls of pho and their great croissants, among many other things.

As with any great restaurant, it was packed. We ordered some drinks at the bar while we waited to be seated. I ordered a Red Dragon [Beet infused Sake, Orange Sherry, Falernum, Muddled Jalapeños, Ginger Brew, Lime and Garden Thai Basil]. You think it sound good? Well, you should try it! It’s delicious! We sat on the front porch and enjoyed the music and drinks along with the great atmosphere.

We started off with some Spring Rolls [Jumbo Lump Crab & Glass Noodles, Tarragon, Jicama, and Fresno Chiles]. This is a great appetizer, it’s fresh and flavorful. Paired with our meal, I had Sake [Takara Nigori Sakeand my boyfriend Draft Beer [Kronenbourg].

For the main course my boyfriend ordered the Bánh Mì [Fried Egg, Crispy Pork Belly, Avocado & Mint] it was the perfect combination of ingredients and the soft bread gave that wholesome flavor. I ordered from the Specialties section, the Bún Bò Huê [Spicy Beef, Pork, & Lemongrass Soup, Housemade Rice Noodles, Chili Oil, Cilantro, and White Onion] I had never tried something like this. It was exquisite, the lemongrass soup gave it a tangy taste and everything combined caused an explosion of flavors on my palate.  I totally recommend these two dishes.

Unfortunately I was incapable of eating anything else, so I missed dessert. But Elizabeth's has a variety of French pastries like: Croissants, Éclairs, Pot de crèmes and Macarons, just to mention a few.

Gone Fishing! [Travel]

This weekend I visited my family in my hometown, Brownsville, which is located near the South Texas Gulf Coast. The truth is that every time I visit them I’m dying to go to the beach. I love fishing with my family, it's a tradition we've had since we were kids. We went to South Padre Island and fished for a few hours. The ideal is fishing on a boat, but due to time we decided to stay at the jetties. Another good place to fish is at a pier.

Spending time in the beach and feeling the breeze is the best feeling ever. We caught several fishes, but none passed the appropriate measurement to keep/eat. We saw the beautiful sunset and the moon rise. It was a great family time.

South Padre Island is one of the best places for family vacation, year round. Besides fishing there are many other activities you can do, such as: dolphin watching, jet ski riding , enjoying the beach, horseback riding, water parks, restaurants and bars, among many other.

I hope to come back during summer and enjoy many other activities. To learn more about South Padre Island visit www.sopadre.com
