Lima is the capital of Peru and it is located in the coast. There are a lot of things to do in Lima but since we were there for only 2 days we just did a few things. Below I will point out what to do and where to eat (very important). We started our tour downtown Lima, to be precise at Plaza San Martin.
On our way to Machu Picchu, we stopped by Cusco for only two days. We got there on a Saturday with the best disposition of going out and explore everything! We asked our taxi driver about any tours and he mentioned a quite few, but they all started pretty early.
If you are planning on visiting Peru make sure Machu Picchu is on the list. Machu Picchu is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and it is a must! I've seen many pictures but being there is something else, it is out of this world. It is incredible to see how the Incas created this citadel on the top of the mountains. I would love to go into details about the history and who discovered these ruins (Hiram Bingham in 1911) but I will let you research it or let your tour guide tell you all about it. It is very important to buy your tickets before traveling, probably months in advance. I think we bought ours like one month before the trip. They do not sell tickets at the entrance.
