Hot dogs are one of my favorite foods. When I learned about Frank, I didn't hesitate for even a second about trying it. Frank which is an Austin-based restaurant recently opened here in San Antonio. Frank specializes in homemade artisanal sausages, offering unique flavors such as antelope, rabbit, venison, alligator and others.
I ordered a plain chili cheese dog (100% Vienna Beef). It comes on a Texas toast and topped with tons of cheese. The chili cheese hot dog was exactly what I expected, amazing! I also ordered a side of fries, which were pretty good (they tasted like the ones from Chick-fil-a). One of my friends ordered the Creole Gator, it looked flavorful and he said it was pretty tasty. They also offer vegetarian and vegan options. I will definitely go back and order something more adventurous. The restaurant is a refurbished church, which makes it very unique. I will say that they did a great job turning it into a restaurant. They have a big patio, a basement with a bar and the main floor that looks like a chapel with the main bar and big screens. Did I mention they have cold beer?
