I have been eyeing my husband's gingham shirt since I moved in with him. He never wears it but for some reason, it is still hanging in his closet. So, today I was in a hurry and went into his closet and saw it there hanging. I grabbed it and just wore it without thinking.
Then I started researching ways to wear your boyfriend's shirt. I saw how skinny girls wore it as a dress! It looks really cool, but I am not that skinny and my husband is not that big. I think I would need an XL in order to use it as a dress or I should be a size smaller. The thing is that there are many ways to wear an oversizes button-down shirt. Here are the three different ways I liked the most.
WITH A BELT
Wearing a belt was the first option that came to my mind when trying on the shirt. It looks cute and casual. It happens that I just bought this cute belt that has embroidery and it worked out perfectly! After the photo session, this was the style I kept for the rest of the day. I feel this option was the most comfortable since I had to go back to work.
WRAP AND TUCK
I had seen this style before and had always wanted to do it. This was the perfect shirt for it since it is oversized. So you just wrap one half around and tuck both ends in and voilá. It looks like a totally different shirt! I think this option looks pretty trendy! You can always use safety pins or magic tape in case you need it. I found an article from Pop sugar addressing this trend, click here to read more about it.
FRONT KNOT
Who doesn't love a classic front knot shirt? It is pretty easy and it looks cute! You can always button up the shirt. In my case, the shirt is too big and it looked better the way I am currently wearing it. I had to wear an undershirt for all styles since I don't like to show any cleavage. But you can always play with the styles and make it look sexier and maybe show a little belly or cleavage, even both if you can get away with it.
