Guillermo's [Eat]

My husband invited me to lunch last week, he suggested several places near my office one being Guillermo's. He always swears by one of his coworker's recommendation, which is pretty accurate, most of the times. I've passed through that place so many times and I was always curious to stop by, but never did.

Barbaro [Eat]

Two weeks ago I had brunch with my cousin at Barbaro. I had no clue what to expect, but I have heard good things about this place. The place looks vintage and super cute! I loved the atmosphere. There was only one waiter and you can imagine the service was a bit slow.

Moshe's Golden Falafel [Eat]

I have been to this place like about 4 times and it never disappoints me. My cousin, which happens to be vegetarian wanted to go out for lunch, so I suggested Moshe's. She wanted Grimaldi's (which is amazing too) but since Moshe's is only open until 3pm it is harder to go than Grimaldis.

Botika: Peruvian-Asian Fusion [Eat]

Dining in San Antonio, Peruvian Food, San Antonio Restaurants,
After trying Chef Jose Andres', restaurant China Chilcano during my trip to D.C. I was craving those amazing Peruvian-Asian fusion flavors so much. I started thinking if there is anything similar here in San Antonio, and then I remembered Botika!

The Granary Cue & Brew [Eat]

I had lunch at the Granary a few weeks ago. I was there with my coworkers. We ordered a few items to share in the middle. They ordered beans, potato salad, brisket, pulled pork, turkey, and salad (for the vegan folks). I had been there before but I do not remember being so delicious.

Brunching at Cappy's [Eat]

Last weekend was fiesta and if you live in San Antonio, you know that it is a big deal! The city shuts down and we all party! Well, I had a very eventful weekend with my husband, family, and friends. On Friday, we were all off from work and headed to the cactus show at the Botanical Gardens. After that we headed to La Fonda had a couple of margaritas and had a delicious lunch. I wish I would've taken better pictures, but I was having so much fun with my mother in law, aunt, and hubby that I missed the opportunity of taking any good pics. Well, I know I am making this a long story, but La Fonda and Cappy's are owned by the same family, and they are both delicious.

Burgerteca [Eat]

A few weeks ago my coworkers and I decided to try out Burgerteca. One of them read a bad review from the SA Express-News, so instead of not going, we decided to judge it by ourselves. Hey, there is no bad publicity.

Brunch with a View [Eat]

Last Sunday some friends and I decided to get together and catch up over brunch. I suggested Rebelle at The St. Anthony’s Hotel. I’ve been there before for dinner, but had no idea they were also serving brunch on Sundays! The place is super chic.  We asked to be seated outside to enjoy our brunch al fresco.

Down On Grayson [Eat]

Last weekend, I planned to meet up with some of my friends, to tell them all about my engagement! We wanted to go to a nice place to talk, that offered good food and drinks. We decided to try out Down on Grayson. So, we meet for lunch on a Saturday. When I got there the atmosphere was relaxed and fresh. Down on Grayson is a casual, Modern-American restaurant that serves a mixture of classic and contemporary dishes

I started off by ordering a frozen margarita (which is my favorite drink). Then, for lunch I ordered the GRILLED SANDWICH DU JOUR, (sandwich of the day) which was a Rueben sandwich with a house sauce and a side of French fries. I usually wouldn’t order the Rueben, but our waiter convinces me and he was right! It was super good, grilled to perfection and the cheese was amazing! The fries were also very good.

One of my friends ordered the CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH (panko crusted chicken, baby Swiss, tomatoes, pickles & house-made balsamic slaw) and it was also delicious!

Finally, we ordered the STRAWBERRY CAKE (6 layers with fresh strawberries blended into the batter and icing. Topped with Strawberry buttercream icing). It was AMAZING! I love strawberries, so it was perfect! After that I went into a food coma.

Down on Grayson is perfect for a casual lunch-dinner with family and/or friends, you can bring your kids and even your dog. I really recommend it and probably will be coming back soon.  It is located on 303 East Grayson, San Antonio, TX 78215. For more information visit downongrayson.com

Cons.
Portions are too big, try to share with someone. I was planning to take my left overs home, but as usual I forgot the box on the table.

Uni'ko Japanese House [Eat]

Since we are big time sushi lovers, for our anniversary dinner I suggested my boyfriend that we should try out this new sushi place at the Eilan.  The place is very cozy and contemporary. I loved the decorations and the art. The environment is modern-chick and high end. The staff was incredibly nice. Since it was our first time there, our waiter explained the menu and the specials they had for that day.

We started off with some spicy garlic edamame, it was super good, perfect amount of spiciness. To drink we ordered the Nigori Sake, recommended by our waiter.  Sake makes me happy, but this one made me ecstatic!

Since all of their ingredients are organic and fresh, the specials change constantly. That day the special was the Lobster and Ceviche Roll.  I ordered the [Lobster Roll], it was amazing and huge! Every piece was an explosion of flavor! My boyfriend ordered the [A Shin Gao Roll], since he likes spicy food, it was also delicious. We also ordered the [Combination Yakimeshi] (beef, chicken, shrimp). Best Yakimeshi I’ve ever had; I highly recommend it! Everything was amazing!

To seal the deal, we ordered the [Wasabi Cream with Seasonal Fruit] it is a wasabi-green tea dessert! It was delicious! It had the perfect amount of sweet and it hit the spot after an amazing meal.
This place is one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. Perfect to meet up with friends, casual dining or a romantic date!
Uni’ko is located at 17803 LaCantera Ter Ste 110, San Antonio, TX 78256.

Cons.
After trying Uni’ko you will probably feel like no other sushi place will meet your expectations. So, welcome to your new favorite sushi house!

La Siberia "Best Tostadas in Town" [Eat]

This weekend I visited a new Mexican restaurant in town, "La Siberia Taquería". Although, they are extremely famous in Matamoros-Brownsville (my hometown) this is my first time trying them. I even remember my mom talking about how she would go there all the time to eat tostadas with her friends, when she was younger.

I was craving Mexican food so bad and wanted something that tasted like home and this place really hit the spot! They make authentic Mexican food. Plus, their tortillas are handmade and fresh; what else can you ask for?

I ordered their famous “Tostada” [guac, chicken and sour cream] I added pickled onions with habanero and jalapeño. It was super delicious!  To drink I ordered my favorite Mexican drink “Jamaica” (Hibiscus), which is also freshly made there.

My boyfriend ordered the “Tacos Pirata” on corn tortillas [fajita, sausage, bacon, mozzarella cheese, onion, and cilantro in 4 handmade tortillas]. My mouth is watering as we speak. They were delicious too! We were extremely happy! Although we were pretty satisfied, we wanted to try the fresh flour tortillas as well, so we ended up ordering a “Taco Pirata” on Flour! It was AMAZING! (we shared, the tortillas are huge, as you can see)

If you are craving authentic Mexican food, I totally recommend this place. It’s like you never left home! They even have the "Cueritos en Escabeche" which reminded me of my grandma’s house.

La Siberia Taqueria is Located at 6900 San Pedro Avenue, Suite # 113 San Antonio, Texas 78216. To see complete menu visit, lasiberiataqueria.net

Cons.
You will probably need to wear stretchy pants, because you will end up ordering the whole menu.

Steak & Whisky [Eat]

A photo posted by Treast (@treastblog) on

After work I sometimes go for a run to the river extension on Pearl. On my way there I always drive by Josphine St. All the lights and the old building always catch my attention. I would see from the outside people having dinner, it looks so cute and romantic. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit Josephine St. the place is cozy, vintage and the atmosphere is friendly and laid-back. I love the fact that a 500-year-old tree is in the middle of the place, it makes this restaurant even more unique and charming. Also, the bar makes me think I am back in 1905.

I ordered the 7 oz Peppered Bacon Wrapped Filet [served with cilantro lime sauce or lime herb butter and course cracked pepper on top] as a side I ordered the Green Beans, which are one of the best green beans I’ve ever had (aside from the ones my aunt Betsy cooks). My boyfriend ordered the El Rey Burger [seasoned, juicy beef dripping with cheddar and topped with avocado slices, pickled jalapeños, mayo and house made ranchero sauce - caramelized tomato, onion, garlic and fresh jalapeños] and a side of onion rings. Those onion rings are too good they put them in every dish, I think. If you order something and there are no onion rings, make sure to order of side of them! They are delicious!

Finally, the best part of all, dessert! I was so full, but it was my birthday so, we ordered the Peach Cobbler with ice cream. It is the BEST Peach Cobbler I have had in my entire life (31 years to be exact.)

It is always good to know they have a Spurs Bus, that takes you to the games if you have dinner with them that day! That is so cool!

Josephine St. is located at 400 E. Josephine Street, San Antonio, TX 78215To learn more visit, josephinestreet.com

Cons.
You might end up with a food coma, make sure to have a designated driver.
